Q:  I have a 7 month old Rottweiler puppy. He is healthy and very active. He used to eat 3 times a day, but suddenly hesitates to eat. Although, we have found that he will eat his food if we stand with him. The climate is pretty hot these days here. Do you believe that he sick or could it be something else (e.g., heat)?

A:  Your dog's eating habits seem normal.  As puppies get older they tend to eat less and do so less often. They also start to develop habits at this age - your dog probably likes the attention he gets when you stand around while he is eating.  Heat also slows the appetite to some degree.  Further, I have always recommended a twice-a-day eating schedule and not leaving uneaten food down.  Thank you for your interest in Best Breed dog food.
